I’ve worked hard to build a business that is:
- Something that I love to do.
- Something that would benefit my family.
- Something that could sustain us for the long run.
What started out as a side-hustle (and let’s face it, at my age, it’s more like speed walking!) has been the thing that has sustained me through a health crisis, the death of my mom, & a total lifestyle change. It’s been my best friend through some long, sleepless nights. It has lovingly kept me company as I tried to maneuver through lots of unknown territories, major changes that were being flung at me with lightning speed & deadly accuracy.
All of my life I’ve lived a “reactionary existence”. Always letting the stress of life determine my health status, my happiness meter, & my next steps. Now that I am finally starting to recognize pieces of my old carefree self again I want to live day to day while still coming from a place of proactiveness.
In business, just as in life, you have to build a foundation that will carry you through not only the good but also the bad. How do you do that?
- Through research & hard work.
- With strong systems & automation.
You don’t have to be perfect you just have to show up every day. Put in the hard work & run your business, but not letting it run you.
BUT YOUR BUSINESS CAN’T BE EVERYTHING TO YOU!
I know, I know it really is a passion. That thing that you do that makes you happier than anything else can.
YOU HAVE TO TAKE THOSE VACATION DAYS!
When you step away from your business even if only a day, or a week or even more you give yourself permission and the peace of mind that you can handle anything. It can provide you with a clear view, a clarity that can’t be found by looking at something over and over again. It can give you the inspiration to try new things, to follow a different path.
Americans are horrible at vacationing! I want you to take a look at how many “UNUSED” vacation days are at your disposal. How many did you not use last year? That’s like handing your employer a big fat paycheck!
According to the U.S. Travel Association a there are a whopping
705 UNUSED VACATION DAYS ANNUALLY!
52% OF AMERICANS HAVE UNUSED VACATION DAYS!
In 2017, Americans forfeited 212 million days, which is equivalent to $62.2 billion in lost benefits.
Come on people these are your hard-earned breaks don’t give them away, use them! Travel the world, the country, your state or even your neighborhood. Just give yourself time to unwind, relax & enjoy!
Remember life’s short!
