Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.
At the end of this post, you’ll find links to the other blogs featuring this challenge. Check them all out, see what words they got and how they used them.

Well, this is a new chapter! For the first time in two years, I’m not writing about Grace & Matt and Emmy & Joe! Don’t worry I miss them too so I’ve decided to plan out the next step in their saga! But not today! Today well, the words just spoke for themselves! Thank you, Karen!
So here it goes…
“What else?!? What the hell else could possibly go wrong today?” Carolyn said as she slammed the front door behind her.
“Careful that comment,” said Marty, “is asking for troubles you don’t want.”
She flops down on the couch kicking off her shoes and slinging her purse to the other end. “I have had the worst day ever!” Carolyn declares.
“A “worse” day is when you jump out of a plane and your parachute doesn’t open. Now that’s a bad day!” Marty said laughing at his own joke.
“Well, it’s the second worse day then. I just hope that when I go to sleep tonight I wake up with a new life because this one is not going well for me.” she huffed.
“What happened? I hope whatever it is, you left it outside!”
“Aren’t you just the comedian of the hour. You just don’t comprehend the magnitude of problems I’ve dealt with today, starting with the alarm not going off this morning and ending with a flat tire when I came out of work.” She said not ready to give up on her complaints just yet.
“I’ll tell you what. Get ready and I’ll take you out to dinner so you don’t have to risk your life cooking supper.” Marty said trying to make her feel better.”
“I have a better idea. I’m not leaving this house again until tomorrow morning and you can go pick up dinner and bring it back,” she said throwing her sock feet up on the couch.
“I can do that, especially if you throw in a few bucks for a scratch-off ticket. What do you want?”
“Surprise me,” she said, “I’m so tired I’ll eat almost anything.”
Carolyn closed her eyes and Marty got ready to leave. She heard the back door shut as she started to relax and recover from the day she’d had.
Her eyes flew open but she had yet to move. Something, some sound, had startled her, but she hadn’t deciphered what it was and where it had come from. She must have fallen asleep she thought to herself as she looked around at her surroundings. “What the heck,” she said sitting up abruptly.
“Where the hell am I at? Where’s Marty? What is going on?” She was starting to panic and with good reason. Nothing that was there now was there before she fell asleep and everything that had been there and disappeared. She ran around the living room and immediately stubbed her toe in the unfamiliar surroundings.
She looked at the pictures on the wall. Okay, there was Marty…and there she was on their wedding day, but where did those tacky picture frames come from? And that couch, she thought suddenly, it’s hideous. I would never have picked that out. Not to mention those curtains are the ugliest drapes she’d ever seen.
“Where is my stuff?” She turned in a circle. “Where’s my life?” She said starting to cry.
“Carolyn, sweetheart what’s wrong?” Marty said turning the corner into the living room. Her relief at seeing her husband was short-lived when she saw what he was wearing.
“What the hell are you wearing?” She said incredulously, “What happened to your hair?”
“What do you mean,” He said looking confused.
STAY TUNED FOR NEXT MONTH AND WE’LL SEE WHERE THIS TAKES US.
