Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.
At the end of this post, you’ll find links to the other blogs featuring this challenge. Check them all out, see what words they got and how they used them.
Your words are:

“Hey, sweetheart,” Marty said as he shook her shoulder. “Wake up! It’s time for work! You’re going to be late.”
Carolyn rolled over, “I’m not going.”
“What? Why? What’s wrong are you sick,” Marty asked her laying his hand on her forehead.
“No,” she said, “I’ve had terrible nightmares all night. It was awful and I’m exhausted and I just want to sleep. Please call my boss and tell him I’m sick.”
“Carolyn, you know that your boss is a mere mortal, don’t you? He’s not going to come through the phone.”
She was bashful as she looked at him, “he scares me. He always acts like he’s just caught me red-handed! Makes me a nervous wreck and today that’s a slippery slope(d)
“What did you dream about?” Marty asked her as he sat down on the side of the bed. “You’re safe now. Right here in your own bed.”
“It was crazy! You were dressed like a moron. The house was hideously decorated and then the cops and delivery driver showed up and all hell broke loose! They tried to give me cockroaches and crickets, but then the officer arrested me and took me to jail. That’s when you woke me up thank God!”
“Well, just take it easy today. I made you a hot, gooey sticky bun for breakfast! Lay on the couch and pretend to be a lady of leisure.” He said as he got up to call her work.
“Thank you, honey,” she said as she got out of bed to move onto the couch where she could watch TV and be lazy for the day. She needed it!
As he left the house she was snuggling down in her blanket on the comfy couch. The door shut as she picked up the remote to turn on the TV. As she looked up as the door closed it was then that she saw the hideous picture frame hanging on the wall!
