Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week 7 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.
My “Secret Subject” is:
Everyone has that ONE friend – good, bad, distant, close, forgotten, one-time special event. Who was yours? Tell us about them.
It was submitted by: https://ourprimeyears.com/blog/
Friendship to me is as important as breathing. I don’t make friends easily, but when I do I am there for life. I’ve lost a lot of people in my life over the years (2 parents, 1 brother, MIL, FIL, 2 SIL’s, 4 BIL’s and 2 best friends). Loss isn’t a new concept to me so the people I have left are everything.
With that being said I really only have 2 friends in the real world (I told you I don’t make friends easily) so I know just how important those relationships are to me. Whether it’s a family crisis or a weekend get together these two are at the top of the list.
We’ve been through so many hard times together, but also lots of amazing times as well. Sometimes it might just be two of us or all three it just doesn’t matter. Sometimes months go by without a word uttered between us, but the second we get back together it’s like coming home. That’s exactly how their friendship fells to me…coming home.
I mean that figuratively and literally because they live 400 miles away and we don’t get to get together often. I’ve traveled the country with both of them, gotten puking drunk, and laughed so hard I’ve peed my pants. It never matters what we do because whatever it might be it’s filled with fun times and laughter.
These are my peeps and they know me about as well as I know myself, sometimes better. We’re the three musketeers and have been for over 20 years!
I first met Becky when our daughters began preschool together and immediately became best friends. We’ve been through cheerleading, basketball, soccer, fall carnivals, trick or treating. You name it we’ve probably done it! She makes me laugh and her innate kindness is out of this world.
Stephanie, which is actually Becky’s niece, is literally my ride or die. We’ve been cross-country twice together, traveling with our hubbies for weeks at a time (and we still love each other!) She and I have been besties since the moment we laid eyes on each other and when I have a crisis she’s the first one I call.
It’s funny that this post is going live today (Sept 6th) because she is actually on her way for a fun-filled weekend and I can not wait for her to get here! We haven’t seen each other in a month (since the family reunion last month actually because to me they are my family) and probably won’t see each other for months after.
I feel as if I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Stacy. I don’t have a picture of her on my computer, but she was also one of my closest friends. Her husband and mine have been friends since early childhood. She had a hard life, but she was as sweet as they come and I miss her dearly. Stacy committed suicide by shooting herself in front of her husband and son. We’re all still recovering from that even though it’s been 6 years.
If you are someone you know is or has considered suicide as an option please call 1-800-273-8255 (US). I’ve been there. I’ve suffered from depression during my lifetime and take medicine to this day to keep it at bay so I know how you feel. I really do. Please just ask for help.
