Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week 6 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.
My “Secret Subject” is:
What on-screen couple is the most realistic and healthy in your opinion? Your relationship goals couple. And why?
It was submitted by: https://climaxedtheblog.blogspot.com
This one took a lot of thought because after almost 30 years of marriage we’ve reached all of our goals except Alaska and only Corona stands between it and us. Fingers-crossed!
I got lucky (the second time around). My husband is literally my best friend. We still tell each other everything and we have never spent a night apart. We enjoy being together, even more, today than we did in the beginning.
We’ve had our moments, you know those big fights where you think you can’t stand to be together another minute, but somehow we worked our way through them. We only had a couple set in stone rules. We were never a couple who went out with our friends. Let me explain, I’ve never gone to a bar and hung out without my husband and he’s never gone to a bar without me.
We both came from big families and have seen what the ravages of alcohol can do to a family. We didn’t want to be one of those couples. We had a couple that we were friends with (several actually) who every time we would go to a bar would get into a fight every. single. time. I mean throwing wedding rings at each other fighting.
Now, in my younger days, I was never one to back down from a good fight(I grew up with 4 brothers), but I am definitely not the type to get into a fight with my husband in front of an audience number one, but more importantly, we never disrespected each other. We don’t call each other names, although when we first got together we got into a fight about something and he called me a b&#$ch as he turned to walk out the door. He never made it as my glass connected with the back of his head and he went out like a light.
I’m serious! I thought I had killed him. To this day he’s never called me that again. That was wrong to do but I was 20. Hindsight and all of that. Anyway, these days we don’t drink at all or on very rare occasions. We’re smokers so the only thing we fight about now is who at the last of the potato chips.
That wasn’t the prompt, was it? The couple I think who seems the most healthy on TV and that is very hard to find these days. I think the most important quality is being able to make your partner laugh even in bad times and have each other’s back always.
The only couple I can think of (I watch a lot of reality shows) is Chip and Joanna Gaines from Fixer-Upper fame. They seem like such a fun couple and you can tell they really love each other. I also love how Ree & Ladd Drummond treat each other from Pioneer Woman.
I think that at this stage of the game I’ll stick with what works!
