Well, this month is a little different from the months past. This month on Aug 21st (tomorrow) we are celebrating 30 years together! Our youngest just turned 29 and we welcomed our first great-granddaughter!
This month is all about us though. We aren’t actually at home now. If you’re reading this I’m somewhere along the trail in Rocky Mountain National Park! Just hubby and I for 10 whole days. As you know the Delta variant has become the next crisis in this country so we totally replanned our vacation.
We were headed to New York, Maine, and Canada but we’ve decided that the safest way to get away was to stay away from crowds of people. That means no hotels, no tours, no people.
We’re headed deep into the RMNP and hopefully, other people will be few and far between. Just hubby, me, and our backpacks! The perfect way to spend a week submerged in nature.
You may remember our trip that we had planned to go to Alaska that had to be scrapped because of Covid and the death of George Floyd. We actually drove to Colorado to go to RMNP and got there only to find out they were closed! I was heartbroken, to say the least, but this year we have our passes, permits, and campsites.
I’m hoping to spend a day or two at Arches National Park as well. There are ways to travel safely and we will be pulling out all of the stops to remain healthy.
- Making campground reservations so that no human contact will be needed.
- Wearing masks anywhere we have to stop.
- Pay at the pump at gas stations.
- Pack our own food.
- Avoiding crowds.
We use these masks everywhere we go
We love this tent by Coleman! It’s totally dark inside no matter what time it is, but not only is it darker it’s always cooler than a regular tent!
We use these packs on the trail.
I’m loving these hiking boots!
I love these hiking poles! If you’ve never used them you don’t know what you’re missing!
Being outdoors away from the hustle and bustle of life has a restoring power that is unexplainable. If you haven’t checked out our National Park System now is the time to do it! Get out there, out of your comfort zone, and just breathe. It can be life-changing!
