Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.
At the end of this post, you’ll find links to the other blogs featuring this challenge. Check them all out, see what words they got and how they used them.
I’m using: end times ~ favored ~ swarthy ~ custom ~ slope ~ caustic
They were submitted by friend Jenniy from Climaxed The Blog
Thanks, Jenniy!
This is a story that I started 18 long months ago and have added to it once a month. If you’d like to catch up here are the rest of the installments. I really hope you enjoy it.

“Now! You want to get married now?!?” Grace said her voice octaves above her usual tone.
“I don’t want to wait for another minute but I can force myself to wait until the next stop. I don’t want to spend any more time apart. I want everyone to know that you’re mine and that Patty is mine.” Matthew said to her.
“Oh, Matthew”
“Look I know that you will never love me as much as your Patrick, but I promise to take care of you, Patty… our family until end-times.” He said to her profile as she’d yet to turn around.
“Oh Matthew,” she repeated. “I think I’ve given you the impression that Patrick was perfect. He was only a man and believe me, he had his flaws just like anyone else. Some days I’d pull my hair out because he would become so caustic at times. Cross even and sometimes it was a slippery slope. He was not better than you. What we have started in friendship and it’s built time after time with trust and respect. How could I want any better for Patty and me”.
“Does that mean what I think it means,” he said beginning to understand.
“Yes! We would love to marry you. But how can we get married now?” She asked confused.
“Well, the preacher can marry us. He deserves to get to perform a happy occasion after all of the hard ones he’s had to do. You could wear that pretty pink dress that I’ve always favored and Emmy and Joe could stand up for us,” he said ticking off each point with his fingers.
“You’ve really thought of everything how can I say no to that?” She laughed her eyes shining with love.
Matthew jumped off of the back of the wagon with a “Yippee” that could be heard across the camp. “We’re getting married!” There were cheers from all corners of the camp. Some of the men had put a wager on whether they would end up married or not.
Emmy immediately jumped up from the crate she was packing and asked, “what are you going to wear?”
Grace climbed out of the back of the wagon as Matthew picked Patty up and spun her around much to her delight and even she squealed in pleasure.
“We’re getting married at the next stop. I ain’t waitin’ no more are we, Princess,” as he swung Patty around once more. She’s going to wear her pretty pink dress and you’re going to stand up with her.” Matthew spouted it off just like he had for Grace. Joe slapped him on the back as he’s the only one who had known it was going to happen and how nervous his friend was about her answer. He was thrilled for both of them.
Emmy screamed in delight and ran into Grace’s arms. I’m going to make you a custom headdress with that thin pink silk and some wildflowers. Oh, and what can I wear let’s see. It’s so romantic! I can’t wait to put it in my journal. Leave everything to me! I’m going to take care of the whole thing,” She tapped her chin thinking about the possibilities. Then she laughed out loud, “we’re getting married!” She and Grace spun in their own circles. For the next hour, the talked practicalities and a plan began shaping up.
But the train must move on. Thankfully Matthew looked a lot healthier. He looked downright swarthy compared to how he’d looked just last week. There was a feeling of celebration as the group packed up to be ready to head out at sunrise. They hadn’t had many opportunities to celebrate and with Matthew recovered and the wedding plans there was a new feeling of hope and a feeling of serenity.
